I’m a natural planner, gatherer and inviter. Which means I tend to do a lot of the work. Since my superpower is sweating-while-not-even-moving, you can imagine how much perspiration I generate when I’m busy prepping food, and organizing things. I love seeing people I care about have a great time. It just makes me happy. It does get exhausting always doing the inviting, and the planning and the prepping, and the hosting. So I don’t get to do it as much as I would love to.
Recently, I discovered celebrating made easy with Macaroni Grill Catering!
So this past Saturday I let my daughters pick a few friends, and invited them with their families for a quick, spontaneous summer celebration, with the help of Macaroni Grill Catering.
Quick note, I haven’t ever thought to, or done something like this. Cater an event at a local park? What? So I was a tad skeptical. Would this event really be that easy without me controlling every aspect? Would the food arrive? Would there be enough? Would everyone enjoy it? Would I actually get to chill out?
I was delighted to discover that the answer to all those questions was a resounding, HELL, YES!
The Folsom Macaroni Grill Catering wizard, Jennifer Campbell, who delivered and set everything up, down to the crayons on the paper, and labels for the food, just as if you were in the restaurant, is a fellow alumni of the same high school I attended. Whew! That was a mouthful. It was so fun discovering that we both attended Monta Vista High School, in Cupertino. I was a senior when she was a sophomore. Little life surprises like this, seriously entertain me. Life is so much more fun when we get to know each other’s stories.
Our menu included the following delicious dishes, Macaroni Grill’s fabulous rosemary bread, Chicken Florentine Salad, Chicken Scaloppine, grilled Salmon with orzo, dessert cookies, lemonade and ice tea.
All I brought to the event were a few plastic table cloths for the picnic tables we’d eat at, a bluetooth speaker for music, water balloons, and friends to enjoy the day with.
As soon as the guests arrived we ate dinner, and then the kids started pelting each other with water balloons, a few adults joined in too. We even had a balloon toss, with refreshing results. The adults had plenty of time to chat and chill, while the kids ran around the park. We ended the evening with some good old elbow tag and even caught a couple who got engaged. We cheered after he got up from his knee and hugged her. I don’t know if they appreciated it as much as we enjoyed cheering. *grin*
It was a fabulous evening, the views at the park were lovely, and we all agreed we need to do this again. Huge thank you to Macaroni Grill Catering for providing the great food. Clean up was a breeze. The entire evening was just lovely. I love that this wasn’t something I would’ve thought of doing. Knowing how simple and convenient this is, just leaves open a whole realm of opportunities.
Have you catered an event at a park? Elsewhere? Have you catered with Macaroni Grill Catering? What’s your favorite dish? What would you order?
What are your favorite summer activities? I’m always looking for suggestions and ideas. Below is a short video I made of our evening. Enjoy!
Macaroni Grill Catering provided the catering for our event. All opinions, enthusiasm, and desires to do this again, are entirely ours.
