This year I turn 4-0.
AGE IS JUST A NUMBER.
Because you all know, I refuse to grow up.
As part of my #40before40 I had indoor skydiving on my list. I had flirted once, a long time ago, with outdoor skydiving; for like a millisecond, because I’m not insane, just slightly crazy. Also, I like living.
Family fun with iFly is the perfect solution for those of us who seek adventure, but within appropriate, safe environs, with limited risk.
We took the whole family to our local Sacramento iFly location. My daughters were both slightly nervoucited. It’s a word my oldest, Kalea coined, and uses whenever she feels nervous and excited simultaneously.
Check-in at iFly was a breeze. They want you to check-in about an hour before flight time. This gives your group a chance to see others fly in the tunnel, upgrade any packages if desired, view a short training video and gear up for the fun.
We chose to upgrade our group with photos, and videos, as well as helmets. Since we all wear glasses, we preferred the helmets, over the protective eyewear that come standard.
We each flew twice. On the second flight the instructor assisted each flyer (diver?), to pretty amazing heights. That was definitely my favorite part. At the end of the flying session the instructor had a chance to demonstrate all the cool tricks and skills you can develop, if you choose to go back and learn more. Definitely applause worthy.
If you know me, you know I love to laugh. As the instructor would adjust us, he’d make me laugh. So, I was highly entertained during the entire experience. You can also scream as loud as you want, as the wind tunnel makes it so no one can hear you. I tend to scream when I have fun.
My husband had a great time as well, and when I asked my girls if they’d do it again, they were onboard.
Turns out iFly is great for birthday parties, corporate events, individuals, and groups.
In addition, iFly also has STEM field trips for school-aged kids. If you’re interested for something this summer, that’s fun and STEM-related, give them a call. Summer’s a great time for activities like this.
When you go, remember to wear comfortable clothing, closed toed shoes, and if you have long hair, tie or braid it back. There’s also lockers you can use to put your items in. No, this is not a time for your phone or your selfie stick.
Have you tried iFly before? Have you skydived outside and inside?
Let me know if you do try iFly, I’d love to hear how it went!
ps. Our trip was sponsored by iFly. We did upgrade our package, but all the opinions and fun, were entirely ours. In fact, I had purchased iFly for my husband for Christmas last year, and we still have those gift cards to use. Yippee, for us!
