{Speaking of Labor Day coming up, I’m over at Today’s Mama sharing our favorite fall ritual}
I’ve always loved ice cream.
What kid doesn’t?
Growing up my favorite flavor was Pralines ‘n Cream from Baskin Robbins. Frankly, it still is my favorite out of all their 31 flavors.
However, my current favorite frozen treat is gelato. You know, Italian ice cream. As you know my husband and I finally achieved our dream of setting foot on Italian soil for our 10 year anniversary. Since then, anytime I want ice cream, it’s gelato. I am loving Talenti gelato for my sweet tooth fix.
Our favorite flavors so far are the chocolate peanut butter cup, black raspberry chocolate chip, tahitian vanilla bean, and the mediterranean mint.
Today, as part of a fun ice cream social I was invited to, by my very lovely, very talented friend Lindsey, I’m sharing what we like to top our gelato with.
It’s simple really. We love fresh fruit. When we go to Pinkberry for our fix of frozen yogurt, the girls and I always add fruit. I admit I do steer them towards looking at the fruit choices first, but now they pick it on their own. (Victory!) I am a firm believer that good habits are taught.
This morning I had fresh raspberries, plums and nectarines in my fridge. So I simply washed the fruit, sliced up the plums and nectarines, and topped the black raspberry chocolate chip with the juicy goodness. Voila! Breakfast.
When I think of ice cream, I also think of floats. It’s an automatic knee jerk reaction. A tasty one too.
Our favorite root beer float was shared recently here. You can’t go wrong with Weinhard’s root beer and Haagen Dazs vanilla bean. It’s divine. All other root beer float combos are just mediocre after one sip.
Today, I mixed Talenti’s black raspberry chocolate chip with San Pellegrino’s Aranciata Rossa, blood orange soda. Oh.My.Heavens. Go and partake. Its seriously got some palate pleasing partying going on.
Cheers!

I love fresh fruit on my fro-yo too! I have only had gelato a few times, but I feel like I need to eat more of it. Like right now.
Yes. Yes you do. Everyone should. Of course, you need coconut on yours. ๐
MMMMM This looks delicious! I'm all about the fresh fruit. Especially berries. Plus gelato is one of the greatest creations ever. EVER.
Berries rule! I have to give an AMEN to gelato.
I love that you had this for breakfast, Steph. That's why we were such fast friends, I'm positive. Love everything about this. Sometimes I forget to think about what goes on top of ice cream…uh, mostly I'm just eating it out of the container one spoonful after the other.
I'm so happy you agreed to join us. I just love you my friend!
Linds – absolutely grateful we're friends. You make me happy. How about I'll bring toppings, you make that luscious ice cream I'm drooling over. ๐ Love you babe!
Stephanie! I am a huge fan of Talenti Gelato…not every store around my parts sells it but I do find it. I'm a sucker for the Salted Caramel. I'll have to try this flavor and with your topping.
Thanks so much for joining us! LOVE IT!
Becky, I totally forgot to mention the salted caramel. I have an unopened one in my freezer right now. This was so much fun. Love food-lovin' ladies.
Fun fact: I don't like floats. (I know.) But I like gelato and I like you!
Dude. All that counts is that you like gelato.
